I spent a great deal of my life being ignored...
Being ignored is a great privilege.
-Saul Leiter
I did not realize the profoundness of these words during my first acquaintance with them but over time, especially in a foreign land, their significance hummed in my ear like a slow song. I had spent a great deal of my life being ignored myself but it being a privilege was something that I realized much later with the help of my camera. During my time in a foreign land, I noticed that everyone was in a hurry. Not a 'hi', neither a look, in a hurry to get home, to work, school or to a loved one. Standing there with my camera, getting ignored with all its might gave me a chance to learn to see what I did not earlier and to react much differently.
This project is the projection of me embracing the beauty of being ignored and looking at those who passed me by, forging a connection that otherwise would not have been possible.
